Now that pot is legal in Washington State cannabis farmers are having the same problem other farmers have always had. What to do with the parts of the marijuana plant that weren’t good for, well, pot! It turns out that all those useless stems, root bulbs and over sized leaves are great feed for pigs so the folks at Top Shelf Organic are donating their waste to the ranchers at Bucking Boar Farm in Snohomish. This cooperative act of sustainable farming not only reduces waste costs for Top Shelf and reduces feed costs for Bucking Boar it produces some amazing pigs and you will be the first to benefit.
The dinner will feature a head to tail menu from Bucking Boars pot raised pigs and fresh produce from Pike Place vendors. Each dish will be specially prepared by the butcher and chefs of Pike Place Market’s famous BB Ranch Butchers. At this unique, first of its kind Ranch to Plate dinner you will have an opportunity to meet pig farmer Jeremy Gross and Matt and Travis of Top Shelf Organic who donated the pot while enjoying a five course meal in the historic Pike Place Market.
Before dinner you will be treated to an award winning Bloody Mary by Lucid Lounge’s David Pierre-Louis. David’s Bitforbit Bloody Mary was the Washington State winner of America’s Best Bloodys contest by Absolut Vodka. As an added treat he will be using vodka distilled in Woodinville’s boutique Project V Distillery.
Dessert will be provided by The Yellow Leaf Cupcake Company in Belltown. Famous for their gourmet cupcakes Yellow Leaf has teamed up with BB Ranch to bake some absolutely delicious bacon cupcakes. Your mouth is not going to believe the flavors.
We are proud to present, for the first time anywhere, the Pot Pig Gig. We can guarantee you have not tasted anything like this.
Part of the proceeds of this dinner will go to support the Market Foundation in support of the Pike Place Market and Ranch to Plate in support of sustainable local foods and the culinary arts.
Parking is provided at the Pike Place Parking Garage at The Public Market Garage at 1531 Western Avenue (just behind the Market). Pick up your parking voucher at the dinner.
